The recent bushfires in Australia have left the nation in distress and devastation. Current estimates suggest that over 18 million hectares of land, thousands of homes, and, at least, 28 human lives have been lost; not to mention, an estimated 1.25 billion animals have perished in the fires. With Australia only half way through its intense summer season, these numbers are likely to climb.

Wildlife restoration efforts face their biggest challenge yet as the total devastation estimates of animals and their habitats are unknown. It's believed that one-third of the koala natural habitat has been destroyed, with an estimated one-third of koalas being killed in the state of New South Wales alone. While current losses include mammals, birds and reptiles, frogs, insects, and flying mammals have not been accounted for. Fortunately, some species, like koalas, do not face extinction because they are spread out across the country. However, ecologists fear that some wildlife, including those in niche environments with lower populations, could be wiped out entirely.

Australia needs our support. That is why Posh is currently accepting donations to aid in the restoration, recovery, and care for all animals affected and their habitats. All proceeds will benefit the Wildlife Warriors organization, a non-profit charity created by Steve and Terri Irwin to support the protection of injured, threatened or endangered wildlife. Donations made at Posh Paw will be matched. If you would like to make a donation, cash and check contributions can be made at the front desk. If you make an online donation, please provide a receipt, and Posh will match the amount. Thank you for your support. Together we can make a difference.
